1971 Ford XY Falcon GT-HO Phase III - $1.15m

An Aussie auction record of $1.15m has been set for the king of Australian muscle.

It’s the ultimate Aussie muscle car and this example might be the best. In the early 70s the car was the fastest four-door sedan in the world. Once rolling the car was untouchable. Key to speed was the upgraded 5.8-litre (351ci) Cleveland V8.
A 1971 Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III that sat for decades, was missing an engine, and had been attacked with an axe, sold for $400k.

300 high performance road cars were built by Ford with less than 100 known to survive.
