Philippine president oversees crushing of $6.8M worth of “contraband” luxury cars

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte crushed what he said were $6m worth of “contraband” luxury cars and motorbikes.
Duterte led the destruction of 68 luxury vehicles and eight motorcycles by bulldozer at Port Irene in the Cagayan province. It was the third time Duterte has overseen such an operation.

The last Bugatti Veyron Super Sport - $ 2.68m

The last Bugatti Veyron Super Sport ever built made £2,045,500 last month. (USD $2.68m). Finished in a black-over-black exterior with a red leather cabin, the supercar has driven just 550 miles (885 kilometers) since new.
The Bugatti can sprint to 62 miles per hour (100 kph) in just 2.5 seconds, and continue on to a top speed of 257 mph (415 kph). At one point it was the fastest car in the world.

1957 Porsche 356 A 1500 GS Carrera Coupe

Few barn finds can be likened to the Holy Grail. This 1957 Porsche 356 A 1500 GS Carrera Coupe (the first ever road car to feature a four cam engine), comes close. The four-cam Carrera engine produced 100bhp. The Porsche 356A 1500 GS Carrera Coupe helped bridge the gap between the company's sports vehicles and racing cars when it debuted in 1955.
According to factory records, the 1500 GS Coupe was completed on July 4, 1957, and finished in silver metallic with black leatherette upholstery. It had numerous owners until 1973, when it was parked and left for decades.
It may not have looked like much but the car made $506,000 at Goodings this spring.

RM Sotheby’s adds Mercedes CLK GTR to Monterey line-up

The Mercedes CLK GTR dominated the 1997 FIA GT1 Championship, winning six of the 11 rounds on the way to claiming the drivers’ and teams’ titles. The CLK GTR offered for auction is the ninth of 25 examples built.
Having covered less than 1500km, it’s offered in as-new condition. The last of the true hypercar racers, it's expected to bring between $4.2m and $5.2m.

1965 DB5 “the ultimate James Bond car” - $ 2.5m

The 1965 DB5 is described as “the ultimate James Bond car.” It was driven by 007, played by Pierce Brosnan, in the 1995 movie “GoldenEye.” GoldenEye was the seventeenth spy film in the James Bond series, and the first to star Brosnan.

The current owner bought the silver DB5 in 2001 for £157,000, making it the most valuable piece of Bond memorabilia sold at that time. This time it fetched £1,961,500 ($2,592,348)

1961 Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato brings $13.23m

Bonhams sold this 1961 Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato July 13th for £10,081,500, making it the most valuable British car ever sold at European auction. It is one of just 19 examples. It was once raced by the great Scottish Formula 1 racing driver Jim Clark in the 1960s.

McLaren 720S

The 720S is built on a rigid carbon-fiber structure that helps deliver a dry weight of just 1,283 kilograms (2,829 pounds), lighter than a Toyota Prius. Stuffed into that is a midmounted, twin-turbo V-8 with 710 horsepower and 568 foot-pounds of twist through a dual-clutch, seven-speed transmission. It's a 2.9-second rip to 100 kilometers per hour (62 mph), onto a top speed of 341 km/h, or 212 mph.
The McLaren 720S features McLaren's new M840T engine. Its a 4.0-litre (3994 cc) masterpiece.
A Drift mode is offered in addition to Comfort, Sport, and Track settings. A touchscreen infotainment system is standard, as is a digital gauge cluster that hides away in the dashboard when in Track mode.
The 720S features hydraulically linked shock absorbers. These do the job of anti-roll bars, limiting the body roll during fast cornering. This and much more might be had for as little as US $288,000.

RM Sotheby's adds to Ferrari roster

RM Sotheby’s has announced 3 extra multi-million dollar Ferraris to be offered in the auction house’s flagship Monterey sale. Its latest additions, joining the 1962 250 GTO, bring the total to 29 Ferraris. A 1953 Ferrari 250 MM Berlinetta is estimated to bring in between $7.5m and $9m.
A 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Alloy Berlinetta Competizione is one of just 46 alloy-bodied competition SWB examples completed in 1960. It is estimated between $9.5m and $13m
A virtually as new 2014 LaFerrari with less than 150 miles driven since delivery is expected to bring something between $3m and $4m.

The auction is set to take place on August 24-25 at the Monterey Conference Centre in California. The sale will be held during the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance motoring week.

Rolls Royce Cullinan SUV

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is a 5-door ultra-luxury SUV. It is the first SUV to be launched by the marque, and is the brand's first all-wheel drive vehicle. Under the hood is a 6.75 L twin-turbocharged V12 punching out 563 hp and 627 lb⋅ft through an 8-speed automatic.
The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is aimed at a select few and starts at an absolute rock bottom $325,000. Most Rolls customers pack on the extras, which never come cheap.
The 5,864-pound behemoth can reach a governed top speed of 155 mph. To ensure that the Cullinan delivers Rolls-Royce's "magic carpet ride," the SUV boasts self-leveling air suspension.

Global demand for crossovers and SUVs have skyrocketed while the market for traditional sedans has contracted. This change in demand has been felt across the industry. Luxury brands like Jaguar, Porsche, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo have gone all-in on SUVs.

Ferrari wants its cars back from 'Taxi King' Evgeny Freidman

The lender claims he stopped making monthly payments on the cars weeks before he pleaded guilty to state tax charges.The man once known as New York’s "Taxi King" may have to start hailing cabs now that Ferrari is suing to repossess his rides.

Evgeny 'Gene' Freidman, who had operated more than 800 cabs in New York, was sued by Ferrari Financial Services for failing to keep up payments on his US$384,000 458 Speciale and his US$362,000 Ferrari FF.

Fallen “Taxi King” Gene Freidman is now behind bars — for failing to pay over $100,000 in child support.

1948 Talbot-Lago T26 from the 1950 Paris Motor Show

68 years ago, a 1948 Talbot-Lago T26 Record Sport Coupe de Ville was shining on the floor of the 1950 Paris Motor Show. Winner of that event’s Grand Prix du Salon title, the vehicle is now up for grabs.
Talbot-Lago, the French marque, produced some of the most beautiful wheeled creations of the Art Deco era. Before going missing for nearly half a century, the car participated in photo shoots alongside Vogue model and film actress Capucine. The 'barn find' underwent a no expense spared restoration and will appear at Bonhams Pebble Beach Car Week in August.
