Ferrari Planning An SUV; Hell Officially Freezing Over

Ferrari head honcho Sergio Marchionne may have all but sworn on a crucifix in the middle of the Vatican that Ferrari would never, ever, build anything that remotely resembles a sport-utility vehicle, but published reports now suggest otherwise. According to some the Prancing Horse badge might yet find its way onto an all-terrain vehicle with room for four by 2021. So it's a FUV, nada SUV. Simple.

The F16X crossover will eschew the V12 power available in the GTC4 Lusso, instead offering a twin-turbocharged V8 engine with all-wheel-drive standard. A gas-electric hybrid version is also said to be in the works.

How much will the Ferrari SUV cost? In excess of €300,000, according to insiders.

Ferrari driver wrecks F430 Scuderia an hour after he bought it

Ever purchase something, say a nice shiny pencil—and then go on to lose it later that day? Agh, that’s the worst. Ever drop $288,000 on a Ferrari F430 Scuderia and then go demolish it less than an hour later? Cops had this to say ... "the vehicle had left the carriageway and burst in to flames. Road conditions were wet at the time and as officers arrived on scene it became clear there was a vehicle well alight and colleagues from South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue were in attendance squirting water all over some kind of sporty model".

This charred and twisted blob of hi-teck is all that’s left of the lightweight exotic after it flew off the road in wet conditions and went airborne on the M1 in South Yorkshire. After its unscheduled flight, the F430 careered down a bank for 50 metres before coming to a halt in a field and proceeding to burst into flames. The unnamed driver escaped with only minor cuts and bruises.

North Wales Police nail Koenigsegg One:1

The Swedish-made Koenigsegg One:1 was stopped on the A55 on Anglesey by North Wales Police. There are seven models of the car in the world, including one prototype. This example's offence was not having a licence plate. The supercar has a top speed of 439 km/h (273 mph) and costs at least $ 2.8m.

2018 Mclaren 570S Spider

The McLaren 570S Spider is the third body type in McLaren’s Sport series lineup, which includes the 570S Coupe and the 570GT. The 570S Spider made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, held in the UK June 29th–July 2nd. The 570S Spider is motivated by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 punting out 562bhp and 443lb ft.

The first 400 units of the 570S Spider will be “launch edition models” and will be priced at an 'attainable' $208,000. That’s almost $200,000 less than the 675LT Spider and $120,000 less than the 650S Spider. The convertible comes in three colors: “Sicilian Yellow”, “Vega Blue” and "Curaçao Blue."

A carbon fibre MonoCell II chassis is at the heart of all Sports Series cars. The roof can be opened or closed in 15 seconds, at vehicle speeds up to 40km/h (25mph).

The combination of lightweight carbon fibre construction and potent 3.8-litre, twin-turbocharged V8, means that the 570S Spider is more powerful and lighter than comparable convertibles, with a power-to-weight ratio of 419PS-per-tonne. McLaren's M838TE engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Electro-hydraulically assisted power steering, carbon-ceramic brakes and Pirelli P ZERO™ CORSA tires are standard. 0-62mph is 3.2 seconds, 0-124mph in 9.6 and a quarter in 11.0 flat. Maximum speed is 204mph roof up, you’ll have to do with a paltry 196mph if you want to keep the roof open.

2017 Ford GT Deliveries Delayed

Those select few buyers that finally received the opportunity to purchase the long-awaited 2017 Ford GT will be waiting a little longer before they can take delivery. Ford delayed delivery of GTs following supplier constraints and homologation testing matters as part of a lengthy production ramp-up. Ford sent a letter to Ford GT prospect owners saying: “The craftsmanship required to build these vehicles for global markets has required that we adjust our original timing projections.”

So far Ford has not given an exact indication of how long it may take for the GTs to finally get delivered. The letter did say that customers waiting for their GT will be provided with an updated 'projected delivery window'. Ford started production of the $450,000 supercar in December 2016 at its Markham plant in Ontario. So far the automaker has delivered around 50 GTs and plans to limit production to 250 examples per year before ceasing production in the 2020 model year.

1957 Ferrari 335 Sport

The Ferrari 335 S is a sports racing car produced by Italian manufacturer Ferrari in 1957-8. Four cars were produced in total. It had a V12 engine with a 4,023.32 cc (245.518 cu in) displacement and featured twin overhead camshafts, two valves per cylinder and six Weber 44 DCN carburettors giving a maximum power of 390 horsepower at 7400 rpm. Top speed was around 300 kmh (190 mph)

The 335 S has a dark history. When it raced at the 1957 Mille Miglia, a blown tire caused one of the cars to careen off the road and into a crowd of spectators. The driver, co-driver and 10 spectators were killed in the crash.

Grizzly association or not, the 335 S is one of the most valuable cars in the world. In 2016, a 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti sold for €32.1 million. Valued between $30 to $34 million, the 335 S sold for $35,711,359, narrowly missing the record $38 million a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO Berlinetta brought.

Man writes off Aston Martin after breaking into factory and stealing supercar

A man who was stranded in the middle of the night, with no way of getting home, found his way to the Aston Martin works – and drove off in a £200,000 supercar. By a bizarre coincidence, that night there was a problem with the car manufacturer’s electronic security system which allowed Jason Boon to walk into the premises and drive out. The damage he caused to the Aston Martin DB11 has led to it being written off.

Boon was surprised when a gate opened on it's own accord and he was able to drive out – so he did so and drove home.

Rolls-Royce SUV on the way

The upcoming Rolls-Royce SUV, the Cullinan, was caught testing. The latest from Rolls-Royce is a rival to the Bentley Bentayga. In previous press releases, Rolls-Royce says that the Cullinan is officially set to be "assessed on public roads in various locations around the world". The testing phase will ensure the SUV still "delivers Rolls-Royce's trademark 'magic-carpet' ride". The Rolls-Royce SUV should be launched in the first half of 2018. There is no word on price but the rock bottom starting price for a Bentayga is ‎$231,825.

2017 Mercedes AMG S65 Cabriolet

There are three Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet models available – S500, AMG S63 and AMG S65. A 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine made by hand in Mannheim, Germany, good for 630 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque propels the S65. Mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission, this will rocket the big cabrio to 62 miles per hour in 4.1 seconds en route to a top speed of 186 mph.

The AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic transmission offers a choice of three modes, Comfort, Sport and Manual.

Beneath the microfiber-lined fabric top, the S65 boasts a full-leather interior. Mercedes’ standard Airscarf, heated armrests, and Aircap wind deflector work to keep occupants comfortable.

AMG fitted the convertible with a sport-tuned air suspension, 20-inch wheels, optional carbon-ceramic brakes, ultra-shiny brightwork, and a lightweight lithium-ion battery to offset the weight of the massive output up front.

The S65 Cabriolet starts something north of $275,000.

Muscle Mustangs

2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350

At the L.A. auto show in November 2015, Ford unveiled the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R. The GT350R is powered by a naturally aspirated flat-crank 5.2-liter V-8 and packs Ford’s first adaptive magnetorheological suspension. Transmission is a six-speed manual, and the car is fitted with dedicated coolers for the engine oil, the gearbox, and the 3.73:1 Torsen limited-slip differential. The GT350R rolls on carbon-fiber wheels, a first for any major automaker and a rarity even among exotic supercars.

The Shelby GT350R is about as stripped-down as a street-legal car can get. The GT350R buyer gets no air conditioning, no stereo, no rear seats, and no trunk upholstery or cargo floor. Base MSRP is $48,695.

If that doesn't work for you, you must need the supercharged "Shelby Super Snake" with a host of Ford Performance components, including a Roush-sourced 2.3-liter supercharger, which boosts the GT's 5.0-liter V-8 from 435 hp to 627 hp. There's also an exhaust, a handling kit, 3.73:1 rear-axle gears, half-shafts, and a short-throw shifter. Shelby fits cooling upgrades, 20-inch Weld Racing wheels, and six-piston Wilwood front brakes too.

The "Shelby Super Snake" claims a 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, and a top speed of 200mph. Base MSRP is $ 87,000.

How about the Shelby Terlingua V8, with 750-horsepower, upgraded brakes and suspension tweaks? No? Well then Saleen has the 730-horsepower S302 Black Label.

Need an eight-second quarter-mile run? No problem, try the new Cobra Jet. 50 were built, with each starting at $99,990. The Cobra Jet is a factory-fresh way to run in National Hot Rod Association Stock and Super Stock races, as well as the International Hot Rod Association, National Mustang Racers Association, and National Muscle Car Association. Under the hood is a 5.0-liter V8 with a Whipple supercharger. New coilover shocks and springs, lighter brakes, a roll cage, new fuel system, new seats with racing harnesses, and a race-prepped automatic transmission.
