McLaren 570S

The McLaren 570S was unveiled at the 2015 New York International Auto Show. It is powered by a new iteration of the 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine already used in the McLaren 650S and P1 delivering 562 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque via a paddle-shifted seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) takes three seconds onto a top speed of 204 mph (329 km/h).

The 570S uses a brake-steer system to help rotate the car by applying more braking force to the inside rear wheel. Two knobs, Powertrain and Handling, offer three drive modes—Normal, Sport, and Track. They allow independent control of ride/handling and powertrain response.

The 570S’s base price is $187,300

‘Wayne’s World’ Pacer at Barrett-Jackson sale

The Mirth Mobile – the 1976 AMC Pacer with pasted-on flames and mismatched wheels in the 1992 comedy Wayne’s World – has been fully restored as an iconic piece of Hollywood memorabilia.

The baby-blue Pacer will cross the block during Barrett-Jackson’s collector car auction in Las Vegas. Purposefully funky and with such custom features as a red-licorice dispenser in the ceiling, the car will be offered at no reserve during the October 13-15 sale at the Mandalay Bay Resort.
Starring Mike Myers as Wayne and Dana Carvey as Garth, the movie’s opening scene in which Wayne, Garth and their crew warble along with the music playing inside the Pacer is a film classic.

The Pacer has been completely restored to how it was in the film complete with the movie prop features and camera supports. No word as to what its estimated value might be.

The McLaren 570S GT4 race car has the same 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8, gearbox and carbon fiber Monocell II chassis as the road-going supercar. The bodywork, however, features both aluminum and carbon fiber, while the street car just utilizes aluminum.

Other race car features include two-way adjustable dampers, a roll cage, center-lock magnesium wheels and an air jacking system.
The McLaren 570S GT4 features a 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 which produces 641bhp and 500 lb ft of torque. Zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) takes three seconds and its top speed is 204 mph (329 km/h).
British team Black Bull Ecurie Ecosse will race a 570S GT4 in the British GT championship alongside its 650S GT3.

This nine-race run will serve as development for the 570S GT4 before it's offered to customers. The 570S GT4 will cost roughly $226,853.

The Ford Edsel

The Edsel was an automobile marque by the Ford Motor Company during the 1958, 1959, and 1960 model years. With the Edsel, Ford expected to make significant inroads into the market share of both General Motors and Chrysler.

The Edsel never gained popularity with contemporary American car buyers and sold poorly. The Ford Motor Company lost millions of dollars on the Edsel's development, manufacturing and marketing.

The very word "Edsel" became a popular symbol for failure.
Ford announced the end of the Edsel program November 19, 1959. Total Edsel sales were approximately 116,000, less than half the company's projected break-even point. The company lost $350 million, or the equivalent of $2.8b in 2014 dollars. 118,287 Edsels were built, including 7,440 produced in Ontario. By U.S. auto industry standards, these production figures were dismal, particularly when spread across a run of three model years.

One of 76 convertibles built in 1960 with power from the optional 300hp, 352-cu.in. Super Express V-8. Sale price $ 70,000k
Historians have advanced several theories in an effort to explain the Edsel's failure. Popular culture often faults the car’s styling. Consumer Reports has alleged that poor workmanship was the Edsel's chief problem.

Marketing experts hold the Edsel up as a supreme example of the corporate culture’s failure to understand American consumers.

Unusual Cars at RM Sotheby's Amelia Island auction

RM Sotheby's Amelia Island 2016 Auction was March 12 and 13th at the Ritz-Carlton, Florida and featured more than 100 automobiles. Here are a few of the more remarkable.
The Toyota 2000 GT may be one of the few Japanese cars capable of drawing six figures.

RM Sotheby's will have a 1967 example finished in white, one of just 62 left-hand drive examples that were sold new in the U.S. The auction house claims that it is considered to be the most authentic 2000 GT in the U.S. $797,000
1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S.

Prices of Porsches are going nowhere but straight up. RM Sotheby's offered an example from 1997, one of just 183 Turbo S models built for the U.S. This one displays 13,379 miles and is said to be a numbers-matching car.

With a 424-hp engine, these were essentially supercars back in the day. $495,000
1962 Rolls-Royce Phantom V Limousine by Park Ward

This 1962 Rolls-Royce Phantom V Limousine by Park Ward is an example with 20,000 miles. That's low mileage even for the typical royal deferred-maintenance-mobiles, and it's rare to see such a purpose-made limo see so little use.

$104,000
1978 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser

A 1978 example will roll across the block, the subject of a frame-off restoration. 1978 was the first year for front disc brakes on these, even though the basic design dates back to the 1950s. A 4.2-liter inline-six lives under the hood, good for 135 hp. $82,000
1985 Ford RS200 Evolution - The Group B racer is famous for holding the Guinness record for "fastest accelerating car in the world" for some time. This particular RS200 is one of just 24 built to Evolution spec and packs a 600-hp 2.1-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, connected to a five-speed manual. RM states that this one shows less than 450 kilometers, which makes it one of the least used RS200s in the world. $522,000
1963 Volkswagen Type 2 '23-Window' Super Deluxe Microbus with Eriba Puck camper

RM will offer a 1963 Volkswagen Type 2 Super Deluxe Microbus with a "safari" windshield, complete with a 1967 Eriba Puck camper. The VW boasts a 50-hp four-cylinder. The Bus itself received a bare-metal restoration in the 1990s. $159,500
